Step 1: Set Up Your Notion Page

  1. First, open a new Notion page.
  2. Then, choose an empty page with an icon.
  3. Change the page icon into something that resonates with tracking habits (in this example, we use a checkmark)
  4. Title your page “Habit Tracker.”
  5. Next, add a cover photo (pick one from Notion’s library) and adjust it.
  6. Finally, maximize space with the “Small Text” & “Full Width” option.

Step 2: List Habits to Track & Note Why You Need to Track Them

  1. Decide which habits to track.
  2. Next, create a call-out box for them using “/call out.”
  3. Choose an icon to highlight this section such as a square checkbox
  4. Then, Add a bold title like “Habits This Month.”
  5. Insert bullet points for each habit and list out all of the habits. For instance, in this video, we set up three following habits: “Running 30 minutes a day”, “Meditate 5 minutes a day”, and “No screen time before bed”.

Step 3: Note Why You Need to Track These Habits

  1. First, create another call-out box for motivational text or motivational GIFs.
  2. Pick an icon (in this example, we choose an exclamation point).
  3. Then, add a title like “Why Track Habits?”
  4. Finally, don’t forget to list all the reasons for tracking habits. For example, we believe tracking habits can create positive daily life changes, improve mental health, and moreover, help us become better people.

Step 4: Create a Habit Tracker Calendar

  1. First, build the habit-tracking database using a calendar view.
  2. Then, title it “My Habit Tracker” and hide the database title for a cleaner look.
  3. Next, create a template for habit entries (date and checkboxes).
  4. Set this template as the default for all views and most importantly, customize the entries with checkboxes and a journal section for reflections.
  5. Lastly, remember to make sure habit checkboxes are visible when you click on a day.

Step 5: Create a Habit Progress Report

  1. First, we need to add new database views to track each habit’s progress.
  2. Duplicate the calendar view for each habit.
  3. Then, hide properties not relevant to that habit.
  4. Next, group entries by month for a monthly overview.
  5. Finally, calculate the percentage of completion for each habit using the “Percent Checked” property.

Step 6: Finalize Your Page Layout

  1. First, organize your page with two columns.
  2. Then, place habit-tracking entries in one column and the calendar in the other.
  3. Finally, add a motivating image or GIF for visual appeal.

There you have it! You’ve created a Notion habit tracker step by step. We hope this tool can help you monitor progress and stay motivated to make positive changes in your daily life.
