How to Use Notion's NEW Dashboard View | Full Guide & Tutorial

Notion’s new Dashboard view is designed to help you see the most important information from multiple databases in one place, without the clutter that can happen when you stack a lot of linked database views on a page.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to create your first dashboard, add and arrange widgets, use the new Number chart for a single metric, and apply global filters across multiple databases.

At launch, Dashboard view is available for Business and Enterprise plan users.

Step 1: Prepare the databases you want to display

Dashboard view requires at least one database to pull from, so start by choosing the sources you want to track.

A simple setup is:

  • Tasks database for day-to-day work
  • Projects database for longer initiatives

Step 2: Create a new Dashboard view

Once your databases exist, create a dashboard by adding a new view and selecting Dashboard.

From there, you can:

  • Click + New view to add your first widget.
  • Select any existing view from your database.
  • Mix different view types, depending on what you want to see.

Step 3: Add widgets (and choose the best view type)

Every widget is essentially a database view inside your dashboard. You can choose from many view types, including:

  • Table
  • Board
  • List
  • Gallery
  • Calendar
  • Timeline
  • Map
  • Charts
  • Feed

Step 4: Use charts, especially the new Number chart

Charts become much more useful inside a dashboard because you can place them at the top like KPI tiles. One of the best additions is the Number chart, which can display a single count without needing a donut or bar chart.

Step 5: Apply global filters across multiple data sources

Global filters are one of the most powerful features in Dashboard view.

You can filter multiple data sources at once, like:

  • Date filters that apply to both Tasks and Projects
  • Owner filters that show a personal dashboard per teammate

This makes it easy to switch between views like “This week” and “This month,” or to see everything assigned to a single person.

Limitations and performance tips

Here are the key limitations to plan for:

  • You can have up to 12 widgets total.
  • You can have up to 4 widgets per row.
  • Dashboard view is currently limited to Business and Enterprise plans.

To keep dashboards fast:

  • Avoid showing an entire database with no filters.
  • Use focused views like “High priority and not done.”
  • Be cautious about adding multiple dashboards to a single page.
